Hello Dave. This might be a long story but please, bear with me. My friend told me about Craigslist months ago (almost a year, actually; it took me a minute) and tonight, I finally decided to look at the site. I decided to look at furniture, living room, to be exact. I looked at many ads and I came across your story. It was hilarious! I am not into decorating at all so your story grabbed my attention. You were so patient! That has to be true love, wow!!! Anyway, I have now left Craigslist and I have read several of your musings. I thought that they were great; they made me laugh out loud. Please keep them coming because we all need some humor in the world. I will have to tell my friends about your site. Thank you for sharing your humor and Happy New Year!

What a great note. Thanks for the kind words. If you found my ad, you must have been looking WAAAAAAY back since that was posted quite some time ago. I guess my “legacy” is still living on there, despite their 90 day maximum for ads.

Since you are not into decorating at all, I’d like to make a suggestion, should you consider entering that area of interest:

Don’t.

See, we’ve SOLD the furniture. I thought that was all I was going to have to do in order to complete this “recarpet job” (read: MASSIVE HOME REMODEL.)

In fact, it’s just the BEGINNING. Let me give you a hint about what I will be doing tomorrow:

My lovely wife: “Honey, do you like this tan color, or this rust color? What texture do you think would wear better? Should we get this one since it’s a polyester blend, or maybe this one since it’s 70% wool? Well?”

Me: (Blank Stare).

My lovely wife: “Hmmmm. Keep thinking, that’s good. Maybe the couch should be fabric and the two side chairs should be leather, or would that be TOO much leather? Since the couch has dark wood arms, maybe the leather should be this lighter color. What do you think? Light leather, or…dark leather?”

Me: (Blank Stare).

That pretty much sums it up. See, we decided to SAVE MONEY and order the furniture from these outlets in the Carolinas. Not so fast, Dave. You have to decide on all the “particulars” before making the choice. This is the beginning of a very very painful process for us men. (Look for more in my next Weekly Musing).

Stay away from decorating. Your spouse, significant other, whoever….will thank you.
